Every phone in our ledger carries a battery of at least 5,000 mAh. Paired with efficient chips and modest screen resolutions, that is enough for a full day of mixed use for most people, and often well into a second morning for lighter users. Where the phones differ is in how quickly they refill, whether they charge wirelessly, and whether there is a charger in the box at all.
Capacity in the ledger
- Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G: 5,110 mAh, 45 W wired.
- Pixel 9a: 5,100 mAh, 23 W wired, 7.5 W wireless.
- moto g power 5G (2025): 5,000 mAh, 30 W wired, 15 W wireless.
- CMF Phone 2 Pro: 5,000 mAh, 33 W wired.
- Galaxy A16 5G: 5,000 mAh, 25 W wired.
Capacity alone does not decide endurance. A 90 Hz screen and a frugal chip can stretch a battery as far as a bigger one paired with a hungrier processor. In everyday terms, expect all five to cover a workday or school day with some left over, and the moto g power and Galaxy A16 to be especially relaxed for light users.
Charging speed: useful, not essential
The Redmi's 45 W charging is the quickest here and can bring a flat battery to a useful level during breakfast. The Pixel 9a is the slowest wired charger on the list, so plan on overnight or desk-side top-ups. If you often forget to charge until you are leaving, faster charging is a genuine quality-of-life gain; if you charge overnight, it barely matters.
Watch for the missing charger
Several makers no longer include a power adapter in the box, and policies vary by region and retailer. Check the listing before you buy. If you need one, a reputable USB-C Power Delivery charger of 25–45 W costs a fraction of the phone and will work across all five. Avoid unbranded bargain bricks; a safe charger is cheap insurance for a phone you plan to keep for years.
Wireless charging
Only the moto g power 5G (2025) and the Pixel 9a charge wirelessly. It is slower than a cable but convenient on a bedside pad. Treat it as a nice extra rather than a reason to spend more.
Keeping a budget battery healthy
Batteries wear with every charge cycle and with heat. A few habits stretch their life:
- Use the phone's battery protection setting if it has one; several of these phones can limit charging to around 80%.
- Avoid gaming or navigating while fast charging in a hot car.
- Do not leave the phone flat for weeks.
- Keep software updated, as makers often tune power use through updates.
If the battery does fade after a few years, a professional battery replacement is usually far cheaper than a new phone — especially if your model is still receiving updates. That is one more reason to read our update guide before deciding.
The ledger verdict on power
Battery life is a win across the board, so let it decide only at the edges. Pick the Redmi if fast top-ups matter, the moto if you want wireless charging on a budget, and the Galaxy A16 if you simply want long life at the lowest price. See the full line items in the ledger.
